Re-imagining the ubiquitous yellow caution sign, 'Throw caution to the wind' playfully speaks to the courage we find in moving forward despite the uncertainty ahead. The piece is also about the desire to follow our passions in life, functioning as kind of an anti-caution sign.

Unlike the plastic, mass-produced sign, this sculpture was made slowly by casting and hand-painting heavy bronze, giving it more weight, both conceptually and physically, to elevate the seemingly mundane object.

This piece was selected as a finalist in the 2025 Wynne Prize, presented at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, from May 10 to August 17, 2025.

As a companion piece to Throw Caution To The Wind, I also made the little bronze sculpture called Throw (a little) Caution To The Wind, for those of us who want to throw caution and follow our passions, but are still just a little cautious, which perhaps is not a badd thing either.
