The Dirty Dozen
2025
Created for the exhibition The Dirty Dozen, presented at City Gallery in Melbourne Town Hall from March 21st, 2025, I was commissioned to create a new series of twelve sculptures showcasing some of Melbourne’s street food.
The exhibition was curated by renowned food writer Richard Cornish, who has selected the twelve items that I've sculpted and has also written a fantastic accompanying essay on their histories.
In between the highs and lows, the exhibition also illuminates Melbourne’s history as a city of markets. Serving up some illuminating backstories and drawing surprising connections between the past and the present, The Dirty Dozen offers a view into the ways our culinary and comestible habits shape and have been shaped by this place we call home.
Dirty Dozen is presented in association with the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
Following the exhibition, this entire series has been acquired into the City of Melbourne art collection.
